FAQ
WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
Short-term risks of anti-wrinkle injections include tenderness and redness over the injected area, with a minor chance of bruising. In rare cases, patients may experience a minor headache, nausea, or flu-like symptoms after treatment.

HOW WILL I LOOK IMMEDIATELY AFTER ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
Immediately after treatment, you may experience a small amount of redness and swelling. These effects are generally temporary and should resolve within 30 minutes. Bruising may also occur, though this should also subside quickly

WHEN CAN I EXPECT RESULTS FROM ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
The effects of the anti-wrinkle injections are gradual. You can usually notice a difference as early as 3 to 5 days after a treatment, but it does take up to two weeks to see its optimal effect. The results will also depend on the dosage delivered and how your body metabolises the active ingredient. For instance, men usually require larger doses than women.
If you are preparing for an upcoming special occasion, Nurse Michelle advises scheduling your anti-wrinkle appointment at least two weeks before the event, allowing the treatment to show its best results. This also leaves ample time for any post-treatment bruising you may develop to resolve.

HOW LONG DO ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTION RESULTS LAST?
Depending on the dosage delivered and your natural skin habits, the outcome of your anti-wrinkle injections should last between three to four months. Scheduling your next appointment three months after the first procedure will help maintain your enhanced profile.
After completing a series of appointments, you may discover you can wait longer between appointments. When you have anti-wrinkle treatments regularly, the muscles are not allowed to recover fully between doses, and the duration of results starts to increase.
This process may vary for each patient, and our nurse at Pose Aesthetics will work with you to determine the amount and regularity of appointments required to maintain your desired look.

SHOULD I AVOID DOING ANYTHING AFTER RECEIVING ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
After receiving anti-wrinkle injections at Pose Aesthetics, we usually recommend that you avoid:
Rubbing the injected area.
Applying makeup over the area injected for at least 4 hours.
Participating in intensive exercise or hanging upside down (e.g. aerial yoga) – can prolong swelling.
Applying any pressure to the area treated (for example, lying on a massage table or wearing swimming goggles)

WHEN CAN I FLY AFTER FILLERS?
After dermal filler treatment, it is recommended to wait at least 7 days before flying, particularly for long-haul flights. The pressurised cabin environment can exacerbate swelling and bruising, which are common side effects of fillers.
The most important consideration when deciding when to fly after dermal fillers is what you will do if there is a side effect. Most serious side effects from dermal fillers become apparent within the first 3-7 days after your treatment. To err on the side of caution, it is recommended to plan your travel in a manner that ensures convenient access to the clinic during this crucial period.
WHEN CAN I FLY AFTER ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS?
Another common question we hear is when can I travel after anti-wrinkle injections?
Unlike dermal fillers, the guidelines for travel after anti-wrinkle injections are more straightforward. You are free to travel immediately after receiving anti-wrinkle injections, provided you adhere to the standard aftercare routine. Flying post-anti-wrinkle injections poses no significant risks and does not compromise the effectiveness of the treatment. The only consideration is the dryness of cabin air at high altitudes. Since anti-wrinkle injections involve skin cleaning, which may induce mild dryness, it is advisable to stay well-hydrated by drinking sufficient water and using moisturizers when flying after anti-wrinkle treatment.
CAN I STILL GET COSMETIC INJECTABLES IF I'VE HAD THE COVID VACCINE?
Yes, you can still receive anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers if you have had the COVID-19 vaccine unless advised otherwise by your healthcare professional.
How long should I wait before/after the COVID-19 vaccine to get cosmetic injectables?
It is recommended to wait at least two weeks before and after your COVID-19 vaccine to receive anti-wrinkle or dermal filler injections.
If you have had an adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccine or cosmetic injectables, your healthcare professional may recommend planning your vaccine and treatment further apart.

PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
1. Eat something before your appointment. Even though your injector will make the experience as painless as possible, some people still are a little nervous about receiving injections. If your blood sugar is low, you might feel a little faint (this is very rare).

2. Do not wear make-up to your appointment. For anti-wrinkle, it is less important than fillers, which are semi-permanent implants, but an absolutely clean surface is vital to reduce the risk of contamination of equipment and minimise the risk of not only infection but also nodules down the track. If you are coming straight from work or are unable to remove it before your appointment we can remove it for you in the clinic.
3. Avoid skin care treatments like chemical peels, laser therapies and needling

4. Avoid excessive sun exposure and exercise, which can cause excessive sweating and capillary dilation.

5. Avoid bruising. The chance for bruising after a series of injections is small but still possible. Bruising usually subsides within 2-3 days. There are several precautions that you can take to help minimise the risk.
a. Don’t take Omega 3’s (fish oil, krill oil) for a week before your appointment.
b. Don’t take aspirin, ibuprofen or ginkgo biloba for 24 hours on either side of your appointment (if your aspirin is for a medical condition DO NOT cease it without permission from your doctor).
c. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after your treatment.
d. Avoid scheduling injections just before a major social engagement. Although, there is a chance of bruising, do yourself a favour and give yourself a few days (just in case). Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers look better a few days after treatment anyway.
